Master Bathroom Organization

How has the Delightful Order January Organizing Challenge been going for all of you? I love that DaNita is making what could be an overwhelming task seem a lot easier by breaking it down into small tasks every day for a month. That’s exactly what I needed this New Year! We finally got moved in to our new home so there is the stress that comes with that, my husband is traveling a lot for school and work, and I spend my days chasing after an almost one year old. All of that makes keeping an orderly home that much more difficult!

Since both the master bedroom and closet were on the list this week, I decided to tackle the master bathroom as well. When we moved in, I just tossed everything in the general area it needed to go, so my vanity (along with the rest of my house) ended up looking like this.

Here is where things got really ugly! I literally just dumped everything in the drawers and lived with it that way for a few days.  It was a good idea in theory because it showed me what it would end up looking like if I didn’t get rid of a few things.

That mess was driving me nuts though, and this challenge was just the motivation that I needed to get it in order. I took everything out and really focused on purging so that I was only left with items I use on a regular basis. I had a few extra bins that I bought for our pantry, which ended up working perfectly for the bottom drawer. Most of the time, I measure and research what size containers would be the best fit, but I got lucky with this project!

I couldn’t have planned it any better. Then, it was time for my favorite part of any organizing project…putting it all back together!

I love opening this drawer now and although I am sure it will evolve over time, I’m just happy everything has a place. I’m not wasting time digging through the mess to get what I need, and I even had enough space leftover to store a couple of towels.

I can’t wait to see what y’all have been up to. What has been your favorite and least favorite area to organize? I always dread the office and paper related items as well as the garage. Give me a junk drawer any day though, and I’m a happy camper!

Hi! I'm Kristin from The Orderly Home.  I love all things organization and I'm a sucker for pretty storage solutions and anything that makes life easier for me and my family. A little about me: I'm 27, married to my best friend, and mama to a precious little boy. I'm a Texas girl who enjoys cooking and baking, spending time outdoors, and barre workouts. My idea of fun involves an iced coffee, some good music, and a label maker. My style has evolved over the years, and currently I am gravitating towards anything simple, clean, and neutral.

Organizing My Mom’s Bathroom Cabinets

Hello All! Happiest Monday to you!

Today, I’d like to take a moment to share a little more organizing that I had completed for my mother, back in January.

I organized under her bathroom cabinet:

Using Dollar Tree bins.  These ones are the same that I used in my:

In my Paper Tableware cabinet,

and I also used one of these same baskets under my kitchen sink.

When I opened my moms cabinet in the bathroom, I knew right away that she just needed a few bins to calm the chaos going on in there.

Dollar Tree bins are always an inexpensive, quick, organizing solution, So.. we picked some of them up and used them in her bathroom.
:)
I didn’t get a before picture, but I did manage to take a couple of photo’s during…
Notice that when pulling items out of the space(s) that I organize, I tend to pile “like” items together.  That way you can sort through as you go.
Hair supplies go in one basket.
Curling irons, flat irons and blow dryers in another.
Miscellaneous in another…
Make-up in another basket
and toilet paper in another.  There was one more basket and it holds feminine supplies.
I used an existing organizer that my mom had to sort hair things…
Barrettes in one drawer
Elastic bands in another
Headbands in another,
and bobby-pins in another.
and that’s it, my mom’s bathroom cabinets in Delightful Order.

If you missed the rest of her home organization, you can view each post, by clicking the photo(s) below:

That’s all that I plan on sharing from my mom’s home organization. Hope this has inspired some of you to bring delightful order to your home in some way.

Spring is the perfect time for organizing.  What space do you want to tackle organizing?  Be sure to share it at our Delightfully Inspiring Thursday Party any Thursday.  I’d LOVE to see your spaces.

May you be a little inspired!
Until next time,
DaNita

Dollar Tree Organizing

If you read my blog often than you already know that I do a lot of organizing with items from the Dollar Tree.

I mean seriously, who would have ever thought that the Dollar Tree would have so many different options for organizing? I’ve spent a small fortune there (and I know so many of you all have too, because you’ve told me so.)

I finished my bathroom drawer organizing recently:
and yep.. you guessed it, I got more stuff from the Dollar Tree.
Who says that utensil trays can only be used in the kitchen?  I picked up a couple plastic ones from the Dollar Tree and use them to organize my dental hygiene.

The little pink ‘thingamabob’ on the end of my toothpaste is a super cool find from the Dollar Tree too.  You just put it on the end of your toothpaste and turn the little knob to squeeze the toothpaste from the bottom up.  Cool lil thing, it is!!

My husband has a couple of drawers in our bathroom for himself,
and I did a little reorganizing on his side, with more Dollar Tree bins.

Following are photo’s with links from past posts that I’ve written up.  ALL with Dollar Tree bins and baskets, trays and such.

Simply click on the photo to be directed to the post.

I’ve done even more organizing with Dollar Tree bins, like in the freezer and the refrigerator, more bathroom organizing, closet organizing and more. I hope to share those other areas with you another time.

ONE last reminder to ENTER to WIN my current giveaway going on now until tomorrow night, Sunday, February 19, 2012.  Winner will be announced on Monday.

May you be a little inspired!
Until next time,

Organizing my Bathroom Cabinets

I have this great built-in cabinet in my master bathroom.  It’s so wonderful to have room to store all of the products that I use daily.
I already showed you my unique jewelry organizing post a while back.
Recently, I re-organized this space with these Dollar Store containers and some fun shaped labels that I made.  The labels are available in MY SHOP HERE.
Containing products for the face.
and…
products for the body
and…
products for the hair.
A place to put my make-up bag.  I’ve already changed the bag, since taking these photo’s.
A place to store bubble bath and candles for relaxation,
and I have a few “extra’s” containers, as I stock up on products that I use often, especially if I find stuff on sale.
I also created a bin for my wrinkle releaser, lint collector and sweater de-fuzzers (not sure if that’s what they’re called.)
I love this Downy Wrinkle Releaser!!  I use it every single DAY to de-wrinkle my jeans, slacks, sweaters, t-shirts, EVERYTHING.  I dis-like ironing and hardly every do, since I’ve been using this wrinkle releaser.  It is truly amazing!  You can find it at Target and Wal-Mart with the laundry detergent, fabric softeners, etc.  Go get some, I’m pretty sure you’ll be hooked, especially if you dis-like ironing as much as I do.
and some more Dollar Tree containers to store haircutting supplies and lotions and such for the hands and feet.

My hands are horribly dry in the winter months.  When I have lots of cuts and splits (which is often during cold months) I load my hands with Vaseline, put on some moisturizing gloves (just picked some up at the Dollar Tree) and sleep with the gloves on.  It’s totally not comfy, BUT by morning, my hands are amazingly healed, so it’s SO worth it!!
That’s it.  My beauty supplies completely organized.  It feels so great to be bringing Delightful Order to my home.  I love it!!

Again, you can find these fun labels in my shop right here.

How about you?  Are you getting organized in twenty twelve?  Whatcha working on organizing?

May you be a little inspired!
Until next time,
DaNita
